Please note: Do NOT use the natural area address as you will get lost. The parking lot is on the West side of Spanish River Library.
Pondhawk Natural Area is 79 acres that protects pine flatwoods and scrub habitats. Scrub is one of Florida's most endangered habitats.
The area consists of 2 sandy ridges bisected by a slough that runs diagonally across the site. A perfectly round lake, now known at blue lake was dug by IBM after the purchase of the property back in 2002. This hike will be just under 3 acres. If you like, you can always stay and walk longer.
Dogs are not allowed in the natural area.
