What we’re about
This group enjoys watching & discussing mostly foreign or internationally made films. We're not film critics. Our goal is to search out films that give us an alternative cultural/social/political viewpoint - a viewpoint that comes from the rest of the world outside the US. The format is to watch the film on your own sometime before the meeting.
So the group will be welcomed back to the places we meet, we kindly ask that all attendees order a drink or something to eat. Thanks…
If you’re interested in joining, we ask that you answer a few questions which will appear after you hit the “Request to Join” button.
Looking forward to great conversations!

Arzé is a 2024 Lebanese comedy/drama directed by Mira Shaib. The film stars Diamand Abou Abboud. “To find her stolen scooter, a woman must outsmart Beirut's religious diversity and fix her relationship with her son.”
“Its drama transforms in intriguing, even exciting ways, as diligent single mother Arzé and her angsty teenage son Kinan travel between neighborhoods segregated by sect and class.”
“It takes skill and sensitivity to navigate current geopolitical realities with such freewheeling humour.”

The Count of Monte Cristo is a 2024 French historical/action/adventure film based on the 1844 novel by Alexandre Dumas. Adapted and directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, the film stars Pierre Niney. It's a story of revenge for injustice.
From the critics:
“Not a second is superfluous or boring in this lavish, definitive version of a literary delight.”
“The film is a modern incarnation of an old-fashioned spectacular. It’s an absolute pleasure to watch.”
“It zips by… Thrilling the whole way through.”
“The storytelling is brisk and coherent…”https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_count_of_monte_cristo_2024
