" Get Up and Get Out ! ! " Awesome Events Fort Worth

Halloween weekend is the MOST social event of the year and it’s a time when strangers expect to talk to each other. Let's make sure you're ready.

What do you have planned? A costume party, a bar crawl, a work event, or maybe you’re handing out candy to the neighbors, whatever you are getting up to, the whole weekend is packed with chances to meet people. Our 60-minute live, virtual workshop gets you warmed up before you walk in the door.

What you'll walk away with

The infinite opener in your pocket. Costumes, décor, snacks, and the host are all built-in conversation starters. You'll learn how to use them, even if you're not in costume yourself.

A way to keep the conversation going. No more "nice costume!" followed by an awkward silence. You'll practice turning small talk into a real conversation (and having fun doing it).

What to do to make sure you see them again. The best party conversations usually die on November 1st. You'll learn how to turn a good chat into an actual plan, like a horror movie night, a haunted house, or a post-Halloween brunch.

What we"ll do

• Workshop openers live, with real-time feedback on yours
• Practice in small breakout groups
• Learn how to join a group, exit gracefully, and work a room without feeling awkward
• Pick a weekend mission and go try it out

This is for you if...

• You love Halloween but get nervous about the social part
• You tend to end up in the corner of the snack table
• You want to turn "we should hang out sometime" into something that actually happens
• You're new in town, rebuilding your social circle, or just ready to meet more people

Fundraising for Micro Budget Film Projects, with guest speaker Liz Manashil

How do you actually raise the money to make a micro-budget feature? Not theory, the real thing, from someone who has done it herself, multiple times over.

Liz Manashil is joining us live in The Attraction Collective on Sunday, November 8 at 6:00 PM PT. Liz wrote, directed, produced, and cast her debut feature Bread and Butter (released by The Orchard, played Hulu and airlines worldwide) and her second feature Speed of Life (aired on Showtime). Her latest film, Best Friends Forever, was just selected for Tribeca's Creator Market and Works in Progress. She also managed Sundance's Creative Distribution Initiative and co-hosts the Making Movies Is Hard!!! podcast, so she knows this world from every angle.

This is a live Q&A, so bring your questions about:

• Where micro-budget money actually comes from
• How to package yourself and your project so people say yes
• What she would do differently raising her first feature today
• Anything else on your mind about getting your film funded

Sunday, November 8, 6:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM CT / 9:00 PM ET

Live in The Attraction Collective on Skool, a free community for indie filmmakers.
