Free Events for New Adults

This book group is for adults who enjoy reading and talking about young adult literature.
This month we will be reading Phoebe’s Diary by Phoebe Wahl

Drawing on her own diaries, Phoebe Wahl presents the illustrated journal of a teenage girl careening through the turmoil and ecstasy of adolescence amid school plays, art projects, favorite bands, blossoming friendships, and new love.

The book can be picked up at the main desk at the Nevins Library.

Come for the coffee or tea, stay for the games! Bring your own board game or borrow one of the library's for this meetup for new adults. Since the library does have a limited selection of games, bringing your own board game to teach is highly encouraged. If you choose to borrow a game, you must do so with your library card.

Cultural Cookbook Club invites participants to explore new flavors and traditions from around the world through food. Each month features a different cuisine, with participants preparing and sharing a homemade dish inspired by that culture. Participants are required to provide a list of ingredients with their dish. Sampling is optional, and the library is not responsible for monitoring or managing food allergies or sensitivities. This group meets the first Monday of the month.

This meeting's theme is: Family Favorites - Bring a dish inspired by your favorite family recipe.

Journalist Julie Masis will talk about her new book, "How My Grandfather Stole a Shoe and Survived the Holocaust in Ukraine."
The Haverhill-based author tells the story of her grandfather, a native of Moldova, who survived the Holocaust under Romanian occupation, and eventually immigrated to Massachusetts, where he lived to the age of 102.
