Free Sunday Hike – Countryside Ramble: Chantry Wood & St Martha’s Circular

Meeting Point - Outside Shalford Train Station at 10am. We will finish back at Shalford Station before 2pm for lunch/drink.
Difficulty - Moderate - Up to 15 km hike with nice hills to keep you fit
A beautiful countryside walk exploring the wooded hills and open fields just outside Guildford. Starting from the charming village of Shalford, this circular route climbs gently through Chantry Wood, passes the iconic St Martha-on-the-Hill Church, and loops through peaceful farmland and woodland trails beyond.
This is a Sunday hike — perfect for enjoying nature, conversation, and fresh air while taking in some of Surrey’s best rural scenery. Expect a steady pace, good company, and plenty of chances to pause and enjoy the views.

Woodland paths through Chantry Wood
Elevated views from St Martha’s Hill and surrounding countryside
Quiet fields, forest trails, and rural lanes
We’ll aim to complete the walk by early afternoon and finish with the option of lunch or a drink at a local pub.
