This is a circular route finishing back at Guildford Station, and we aim to complete it before lunch, around 2 pm.

## Mission Brief: Operation Castle and Woods

Your objective: infiltrate Guildford’s green frontier — an approx. 15 km route combining riverside paths, ancient woodland, open hills, and the historic heart of the town. This is no ordinary walk. It’s a tactical journey through shifting terrain — water, forest, ridge, and ruin — designed for those who prefer their weekends with a touch of intrigue.

## Intel: Key Waypoints

  • River Wey Navigation — silent currents and shaded towpaths; the calm before the climb.
  • Chantry Woods — ancient ground, deep cover, and the first test of endurance.
  • Surrey Ridgelines — open country, sweeping views, and the high vantage point.
  • Guildford Castle & Gardens — centuries of history behind stone walls.

## What to Bring

  • Good walking shoes
  • Water and light snacks
  • Cap/hat
  • A positive and friendly spirit
  • A 'can do' attitude

## Difficulty

Moderate — around 15 km with some gentle ups and downs. We’ll walk at a steady medium pace with regular stops to enjoy the scenery. Perfect for anyone comfortable with usual steady walks and looking for a varied, scenic route.

## Important Notes

## Post‑Hike Social
