Intuitive Partnering Course - New Concept and Materials
This is a unique course that no one else teaches. It's a discovery of mine by constantly innovating in the art of teaching while being in the field (teaching workshops all over the world recently). I will only be teaching this in Alameda and Fresno locations only. If you see me teaching at other venues and cities (Allegro and Mamajuana), it's for the Absolute Beginners Only and won't include these "new concept" materials.
So, Following the completion of the Footwork Course, I'm excited to introduce Intuitive Partnering — a deeper dive into the unique and vibrant world of Bachata Dominicana. Unlike more structured partner dances, Bachata Dominicana places a strong emphasis on the beat but does not follow strict timing or rigid lead-and-follow rules. The goal in this course is to break from Lead and Follow and choreography Roles, adhering the Partner Principle, and Breaking them at the same time.
Traditional Bachata is remarkably independent, offering about 90% freedom for each dancer’s self-expression, with only about 10% relying on lead and follow dynamics.This course demystifies that balance by teaching dancers how to connect intuitively with their partners while maintaining personal freedom and emotional expression. Drawing from my experience teaching students in Asia, Europe, Bay Area and Fresno lately, I have developed methods to help you lean into this natural, fluid way of dancing.

Rodney "Rodchata" Aquino is an internationally recognized Bachata teacher, dancer, promoter, and choreographer. He is known for his expertise in both traditional and modern styles of Bachata and has taught the dance in 48 countries. Rodchata is also recognized for organizing the first international Bachata festival in the USA and co-organizing the first Dominican Republic Bachata Festival. He is considered a leading authority on Bachata and has been recognized as one of the most influential Bachateros in the world - Hawai'i - 7th Annual Dance Expo in HonoluluPrince Waikiki - Honolulu Luxury Hotel, Honolulu, HI
Hawai'i Dance Expo began in 2010 in Honolulu concentrated on Bachata Dancing. But as social dancers our ultimate goal is to be multi-dimensional, able to dance all styles with everyone.
