Burton Dassett Hills / Fenny Compton (8-mile looping hike)

Details

A thoroughly enjoyable hiking experience and a firm favourite that has not been repeated for over a year. As always - first-timers and returners are welcome, so get your name on the attendees list and make sure you don't miss this one.

Read on for the original description which all still applies...

The Burton Dassett Hills are a much loved area of natural beauty, and several people recommended we do a Friendly Faces hike there.
This very popular route was carefully mapped out and took place twice last year, and gave us all a fantastic day out each time.
Read on for last years event description and to find out more...

Adding to this packed year of scenic walking/hiking routes from the insatiable Friendly Faces walkers, this super scenic hiking route starts in the picturesque village of North End, and takes us through the much-loved Burton Dassett Hills and Fenny Compton, through the remotest of countryside, before looping back to finish where we started.

The dreamy remote setting together with the outstanding views and scenery make this a superb route from start to finish, but...
Please note that there are inclines and declines along this route, with uneven terrain underfoot (clumpy earth) for sections of the route, so it's important that you wear some sturdy footwear that supports your ankles.
I lightly sprained an ankle on this route last year, and while the sprain wasn't bad enough to stop me from completing the route - it was very painful for a week or two after. This is the reason that I now never go hiking without my proper ankle-supporting walking boots, and I continue to insist that others do the same.
Be warned that if you turn up in trainers (presumably because you haven't read this description) I may send you home before the walk begins!

If you have good footwear and you're a keen and able walker/trekker (whether you're a first-timer to the group or not) then this walk is still for you. Maybe you've smashed a Friendly Faces walk or two already this year, or maybe you've heard good things about the ones we've done and you want to get involved in these fantastic social occasions... step up and add this one to your list of accomplishments for this year.

Note: There are several farmers fields that we pass through that take us close to sheep and a bull/cows, so dogs are not allowed to attend. (even really well-behaved ones!)

When we're done - like we did last time - we'll jump back in the cars and drive round the corner to the very excellent pub The Yew Tree for a well earned sit down, drink, and final chinwag before setting off home.

The event date is creeping closer, so hit that big red 'Attend' button now to be kept informed.
