The Boulder Opera brings opera to the communities in Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette with performances for the entire family, free community performances, and educational outreach programs for schools.
With the intention of developing new audiences, Boulder Opera's operatic interpretations are modern, eclectic and fun!
Whether you bring your kids to the Family Series, catch a full-length opera, or attend an open-air community performance at Opera in the Park or Opera&Dine, we look forward to entertaining you and inspiring the generations of opera lovers to come!
Founded in 2012 by Artistic Director/Executive Director Dianela Acosta, the Boulder Opera is committed to making opera accessible, inspiring and engaging to the community while providing opportunity to local musicians.
Our Family Series explores repertoire in reduced versions with an ensemble orchestra, specifically adapted for the enjoyment of young audiences and their families.
Our full-length productions and Opera&Dine include standard, contemporary, and rarely performed works. They are experimental in nature, seeking to reach and entertain new audiences and delight the old.
Opera in the Park is an open-air opera production in Boulder’s historic Bandshell Theater, free for the community - and has become Boulder’s most exciting outdoor classical music event in the summer!
Our outreach program is designed to inspire and educate the young generation about opera and to make connections to other disciplines through our study guides and workshops.
