An opportunity for men who can make time during the day to get together for a chat and friendship over food and drinks. This meetup started during the COVID lockdowns as an opportunity for those not working as much to get some face to face time with people. Now it is a chance for men of various ages and life stages to enjoy food and friendship on a regular basis. We welcome people from all walks of life.

Coochiemudlo Island Nature Walk

Date: Saturday, 10th May
Meet-up Time: 10:15 AM (for a 10:30 AM sharp ferry)
Where: Victoria Point Jetty (Masters Avenue, Victoria Point)

Get ready for a fantastic day exploring the stunning Coochiemudlo Island! We'll hop on the ferry (just 50 cents each way—yes, really!) and set off on a scenic walk around the island.

Ferry Details: The Amity Trader passenger ferry won’t wait, so be sure to allow plenty of time for parking and walking down to the terminal. They accept both card and cash.

The Walk:
Once we arrive, we’ll pass the playground and toilets before making our way around the island, following the shoreline or taking the best route depending on the tides. Along the way, we’ll see beautiful beaches, spot shorebirds, admire fascinating rock formations, and walk through peaceful mangroves. If the tides work in our favour, we’ll even get to check out the historic Moreton Jetty.

Difficulty Level: Easy! It’s a 5km mostly flat walk with a mix of pathways and off-track sections. Make sure to wear comfortable, sturdy shoes such as runners or hiking shoes.

What to Bring:

Sunhat, sunglasses, and sunscreen

Bug spray

Plenty of water and a snack to eat along the way

After the Walk:
Our adventure wraps up back at the Coochiemudlo Island Jetty. From there, you can either catch the next ferry back or stay a little longer and relax at one of the local spots: Curlew Café or Beach Bar & Grill, both located near the finish point. Note: We don’t have a group booking, so if you’d like to stay for a bite, you may want to book ahead.

Important:
This is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run event, so everyone is responsible for their own safety. Please be respectful of island residents—this is their home, so let’s keep the peace and stay off private property.

Boardgames!
We all need a little help, support and encouragement in life and this is why it is important to have meaningful connection with the community around you.
No man, woman or child is an island.
Face to face connection with community can improve your health and well-being and create more happiness in your life.
PLAY Boardgames promotes face to face community connection so come along and have fun playing Boardgames with other people in the community at 7pm at Bulimba Girl Guides Hall, 7 Barramul St, Bulimba.

Young or old, alone or with a group, your host Janette will welcome you and help connect you into a game. You are welcome to bring a game of your own along, or there are MANY to choose from. If you don't know the games, someone will help you learn the rules.

Drop a gold coin donation into the donation cube as you come through the door. Refreshments provided.

Popular games played recently include: Azul, Rummikub, Bananagrams, Scattergories, Ticket to Ride Europe, Connect 4, Triominos, Blokus, Bohnanza...

Please note, I don't run this event, Janette does, and it is open to the general public plus the Meetup group. It meets each week.

There is also a second venue in Cleveland at the Scout Hut at 26 Bainbridge St Ormiston that meets every week.

Join us for a walk around the Kangaroo Point - Green Bridge loop. We'll meet outside Joey's Cafe. We walk across the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs, along the Southbank waterfront, across the Neville Bonner Bridge through old city Botanical Gardens, about 5 city blocks, then back over the new Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, along Main Street to The Pineapple Hotel.
The Walk is about 7kms and takes about 80 to 90 minutes.
Meet at 5:55pm (or earlier) for 6:00pm Start.
Walk at your own pace as we stop at a number of catch up points along the way so you won't get left behind. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but the dinner venue is not.
Relax... Even if it your first time, we aim to make all feel welcome and it's a good idea to turn up a little early.
Optionally... After the walk, we stop at the Pineapple Hotel for dinner and / or a drink, a great way to socialise in a group setting. The conversation is more dynamic in the group setting, so if your a bit shy you can enjoy being a listener, if there's a topic your passionate about, you can jump right in on it.

There is free parking from 5pm near Joey's Cafe, the Pineapple Hotel and the streets between.
Plan on arriving a little early (10-15 minutes) we can have a chat and you have a buffer if traffic is poor. We do leave on time and once started I don't get a chance to check for messages as it is unsafe do while walking.
If there is mild rain I'll do the walk, but, if it is pouring down or well set in, I'll just do dinner.
Remember we are all adults so... I thank you as my guests that you bring your manners and be respectful!
