Hey Everyone,
Guess what? The last event was such a blast that I’ve decided to host another park picnic at Whittier Narrows!
Come join me for another fun-filled day at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area Park on Saturday, June 14th, starting at 10:00 AM!
Now that summer's here, there's no better time to get out, socialize, party, and hang out with everyone.
We’ll have a group potluck picnic and BBQ, plus a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy.
There’s something for everyone, including walking, bike riding, bird watching, and fishing in the park’s peaceful natural landscape.
Feel free to break into smaller groups based on what you’d like to do, or just relax, hangout, and take in the views together. We'll also be there to catch the sunset together.
It’s the perfect spot for a day of nature, relaxation, and fun!
Potluck Picnic & BBQ: Don’t forget to bring something to share! This is a group potluck event. Please sign up on the list so everyone knows what you’ll bring, helping to ensure we have a variety of dishes and avoid duplicates.
This is not a normal, casual potluck. Please do not bring only a bag of chips, 2-liter bottle of soda or something similar. Our members come together to create a fantastic table spread and we will have a lot of meats and even more seafood this time around.
If you're unsure what to bring and would rather contribute toward meats, charcoal, and other grilling or party supplies, you're welcome to send a donation of $15 or more for each person attending via Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, or PayPal.
Additional voluntary contributions are also greatly appreciated!
Activities: There are walking paths, bike riding, bird watching, fishing, and more! Feel free to bring your favorite board games, a book to read, a yoga mat for meditation, or anything else to make your “day camping trip” more comfortable.
Location: Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, located at 750 S Santa Anita Ave, South El Monte, CA 91733.
Parking: $7 per vehicle, $5 for seniors and those with disabilities.
Meeting Time: 10:00 AM, and we’ll enjoy the day until 7:30 PM.
This is a wonderful spot to spend time with friends, enjoy nature, and make some great memories.

Whittier Narrows Recreation Area is one of the largest and most versatile parks in the San Gabriel Valley.
Spanning over 1,400 acres, it offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, including scenic lakes, fishing, bike paths, nature walks, picnic areas, and sports fields.
The park is also home to the Whittier Narrows Nature Center, which provides educational programs and wildlife exhibits.
Compared to other nearby parks like Legg Lake Park (around 400 acres, which is actually part of Whittier Narrows), and El Dorado Park in Long Beach (about 800 acres), Whittier Narrows stands out for its sheer size, diverse recreational options, and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for family outings, group events, and outdoor enthusiasts.
