Medium Intensity HIke with some shade in Newport Coast

Details
Let's get some exercise with a view in Laguna Coast Wilderness and Crystal Cove State Park! This will be about 5 miles and about 700 feet of elevation gain, so you will get a few hills to get your heart rate up and blast those buns! There is also one big rock to maneuver around as you go downhill (slowly), so hiking poles are a good idea if you have them.
The whole trek should take about 2.5 hours at a moderate pace.
We start at the public parking area by the restrooms in Coastal Peak Park.
Meet at the rest room area in Coastal Peak Park at 8:00 AM.
There is plenty of free on-street parking all along Ridge Park Road and East Coastal Peak Road. GPS Address: 20403 E Coastal Peak, Newport Coast, CA 92657.
BRING: Sunscreen, Hat, Water, hiking shoes with Good Traction, and maybe a hiking pole. No furry friends though.
If you arrive late, just follow the directions detailed below and catch up with us in the trail.
We will head up left on Pacific (No Name) Ridge, directly across the street from the rest room meeting spot and turn right on Bommer trail. These are nice big, wide, well-groomed dirt maintenance roads. We will then take Fence Line/Missing Link -- a narrow single-track trail -- until it ends at Moro Ridge and turn left, heading back up to Bommer. Turning right on Bommer, we will proceed about a half-mile and turn left on Willow trail, with another immediate left on Laurel Spur, descending down into Laurel Canyon. We will turn left at Lizard Trail -- another scenic single-track trail. This trail is in a small canyon and has some shade from the many Live Oak trees. There is one large rock that we have to climb down around (about 6 to 8 feet) and then continue on for a gradual climb back up to Bommer, turn right, and head back to our starting point.
