Bioluminescence season is here! We’ve been seeing glowing waters on recent tours, but keep in mind nature is unpredictable. There’s never a guarantee. When the ocean lights up, it’s unforgettable.

***Please arrive by 6:00 PM. The tour lasts about 2.5 hours and ends around 8:30 PM.***

💵 Tickets: $50 reserves one seat in a tandem (2-seat) kayak.
Whether you’re brand new or a returning paddler, you’re in for a spectacular night on the water. ALL AGES are welcome!

We’ll meet on Vacation Isle to launch in time for the 6:48 PM sunset, then paddle into the night under the new moon hoping for bioluminescent glow. When it appears, the effect is dramatically better by kayak — dipping your paddle and watching the water ignite around you is a whole different experience than simply seeing distant glowing waves from shore.

The chemical behind this glow is called *Luciferin*. It reacts with oxygen to produce light, creating a living sparkle across the bay. Learn more here: National Geographic

We circle up while Joe leads an easy-to-follow paddle lesson. Special attention is given to first timers!
**Launch / Sunset / Paddle into the Bay:**
We’ll be on the water in time for sunset at 6:48 PM. Afterward, we’ll paddle into the night to look for glowing waters under the dark sky of the new moon.
**Relaxation & Play Time:**
This is the time to take it all in. Some may want to float quietly and watch the stars. Others may want to try splashing the water to see sparks of light.
**Paddle Back to Shore:**
This final paddle of the night always feels different. With or without bioluminescence, the calm of Mission Bay at night has its own magic.
**Arrive Back at Vacation Isle:**
The on-site bathroom features an outdoor shower!
