About us
A community for people building a life on the Gaia Coast.
I kept noticing the same thing whenever I walked along the Gaia Coast.
This place was asking me to participate.
There was something about the ocean, the river, the nature and the rhythm of everyday life that made me want to explore more, connect with the place and create something here.
But I also felt something was missing. For such a beautiful place, there weren't many opportunities to easily meet people living nearby, get together or simply do things.
I started thinking about what it would mean to not just live here, but to help bring a little more life and connection to this place.
And I started wondering: Is there anyone else who feels the same?
That question became Gaia Coast.
I invited Ella and others to join me, and since then, what started as a simple idea has grown into a community we're building together, with new people, ideas and experiences along the way.
What we do
We get together for coastal walks, casual gatherings, exploring Gaia, and all kinds of activities.
Sometimes it's simply about meeting new people, discovering a new place or having a good conversation. Other times, it's beach picnics, book and clothes swaps, game nights or whatever else we feel like organizing together.
And it's not just about showing up to events. We love when members bring their own ideas, suggest something fun or help make things happen.
What we´re about
Genuine connection. Getting to know people beyond small talk and making space for real friendships.
Participation & collaboration. Everyone is welcome to bring ideas, organize activities and contribute in their own way.
Curiosity & openness. Different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives make life more interesting.
Connection to place. Exploring, appreciating and being part of life around the Gaia Coast.
Who is this for?
- People living in or around Gaia
- People from Porto and beyond who feel connected to this side of the river
- Locals and internationals looking to meet people and make genuine connections
- Anyone curious about the people, nature and coastal life
Whether you've just arrived, have lived here for years or simply love spending time on the Gaia Coast, you're welcome here.
Come join us for our next gathering!
Maybe this place is asking something of you too. 🌊

Join Coast Studio for our second edition of Qigong & Tea, a relaxed morning combining gentle Qigong, flowing movement, a little Tai Chi at the end, herbal tea and good conversation.
We'll meet at Parque de São Paio, near Praia de Lavadores, a beautiful spot overlooking the coast, with the sound of the waves, birds singing and fresh morning air.
It might be a little chilly, but that's part of the experience too. Qigong is about moving with awareness, being present and embracing the moment, whatever the weather brings.
THE EXPERIENCE
Qigong & Flowing Movement
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice combining gentle, flowing movements with breathing and awareness. Traditionally, it works with qi, or vital energy, helping us cultivate a sense of balance, presence and connection with the body.Aníbal will be guiding the session. He discovered Qigong and Tai Chi in 2001 and has been practising and teaching ever since. Today, he shares his practice from his own studio in central Porto.
No previous experience is needed.
Tea Circle
After the movement, we’ll gather to have a warm herbal tea and some light snacks, unwind, chat and get to know each other.
DETAILS
- Group size: Small gathering, limited to 12 participants
- Price: €18 (includes the session, herbal tea and snacks)
- Bring: Comfortable clothes and curiosity.
ABOUT COAST STUDIO
I’m creating Coast Studio as a way to bring together some of the things I love — movement, dance, creativity, mindful practices, nature, fun stuff and, most importantly, people.
This is the beginning of a series of small gatherings exploring different ways to move, connect, create and experience more of the place we live.
