February - Google Developer Group Meetup
Details
Get ready for GDG Melbourne in February! This month, our two presentations will be:
-
“Tinkering with the Google Cloud Vision API on a RaspberryPi, and processing images of your favourite pets.” by Graham Polley (https://developers.google.com/experts/people/graham-polley) from Shine Solutions. Graham is a Google Developer Expert for the Google Cloud Platform. He will be talking about his recent side project where he tested the Google Cloud Vision API on a RaspberryPi. Google’s Cloud Vision API is one of their latest machine learning technologies to be exposed as a cloud service to developers. Simply make a REST call, and you can leverage the power of Google’s incredibly sophisticated machine learning algorithms, without ever needing to know how it works under the hood.
-
"The Ultimate Ninja of Kotlin Libraries" by Kai Koenig (http://lanyrd.com/profile/agentk/) from Ventego Creative in Wellington, New Zealand. Kai will be delivering a remote presentation on Kotlin Libraries. Kotlin is a new language for the JVM that aims to be a "better Java". Made in-house by Jetbrains, the company behind IntelliJ IDEA and also Android Studio, it's been in development for more than 5 years. Just a few weeks ago the final version of Kotlin 1.0 saw the light of day.
Doors open for drinks at 6pm, and talks will kickoff at 6:30pm. There'll also be pizza, and when the talks finish up (around 7:30pm) there'll be more time for drinks and networking. Look forward to seeing you then!
