The world order we’ve known for our entire lives is unravelling. Global supply chains are fracturing, geopolitical rivalries are intensifying, and once-stable nations are slipping into political, economic, and social disorder. This process—often called deglobalisation—is reshaping how countries trade, cooperate, and survive.

In the middle of this turbulence, Australia is positioned as the global “life raft.” Since around 2015, it has been quietly attracting people, capital, and ideas seeking refuge from instability elsewhere. In this presentation, we’ll explore why the world is becoming more fragmented, how those pressures push some nations towards crisis, and why Australia’s geography, resources, governance, and alliances have made it the safest harbour in a storm-tossed world.
