This hike is NOT for beginners. Cold Spring Harbor is, by far, the most difficult and strenuous hike on Long Island. Please do not RSVP unless you can do this hike at the modestly brisk pace of 2.5 to 3 miles an hour (at least 22 minutes a mile). There will be very few stops along the trail to promote a good aerobic workout.

The Cold Spring Harbor sections of the LI Greenbelt trail are regarded as the most difficult on Long Island. Rightly so. The hills are steep and many in both directions.

We will be doing an approximately 4.4 mile hike. It will feel like 8 miles. Remember to wear appropriate footwear and bring hiking poles, food and water as needed. NO DOGS ALLOWED.

Directions to Cold Spring Harbor State Park:
The park is on the south side of 25-A, less than a quarter of a mile east of the Harbor Mist Restaurant. From the south, you can access 25-A from Route 108 or Cold Spring Harbor Road.

Hope you can enjoy a vigorous hike with us at Cold Spring Harbor State Park on Saturday, November 8th!!
