Parking: South River Picnic Area
Trail: South River Falls, Pocosin, AT Loop

This hike has a beautiful waterfall, historic ruins and a PATC cabin.

Note: We will be in an area that borders the Rapidan Wildlife Management Area- wearing something orange is recommended.

There will be an optional tailgate in the parking lot at the end of the hike. Bring your chair, beverage of choice and a snack at your discretion.

Hike Description: We will begin our hike from the South River Picnic area, descending on the South River Falls Trail to the South River Fire Road turning right and continuing to the base of the third highest waterfall in SNP. We will retrace our steps on the Fire Road, hiking uphill until we reach the Pocosin Trail. We will hike the Pocosin Trail passing the remnants of the Pocosin Mission and homestead. We will continue onto the Pocosin Fire Road to the Pocosin Cabin (a PATC cabin) where the Fire Road intersects with the AT. After a lunch stop at the cabin, we will hike south on the AT back to our cars.
