OLD RAG VERY STRENUOUS More info and details to follow
Details
Let’s hike Old Rag.
The Old Rag hike is a strenuous 9.4-mile loop in Shenandoah National Park known for its challenging rock scramble section, which involves climbing, crawling, and squeezing through boulders. The 2,300-2,600 feet of elevation gain is spread across rocky terrain with steep grades and false summits, offering rewarding 360-degree views from the summit. While the full loop takes about 5.5 to 9 hours, it requires advance tickets and good physical condition, and is not recommended for those with a fear of heights or balance issues
This is a hard hike….
There are challenges and obstacles and some places where we need to be a bit ….🤔…comfortable with each other bc we will need some behind the scenes boosts and pushes and help to get over some hard spaces!!
I thought this was a one and done for me…but..what the heck…let’s go for it again!!
Everyone will start on the wait list so just know we willl only bring over those who have a solid hiking history. Please answer the question honestly. There are limited resources in the park in case of an emergency. We would like to avoid any emergencies as much as we are able.
I mean. I’ll be on the waitlist also…not sure if I’m ready for this one!! ⛰️
No dogs…
Please be prepared for hard climbs, scrambles, hand over foot kinda things…
And chasms!! What!?
Ok so … bring water, poles, food, first aid kit, gumption, bravery, and grippy gloves!!
In case of bad weather, we will let you know by 7am - day of the hike in the comments.
We are not professional guides… Only here to help aid in having a good time in the woods. You are joining this hike at your own risk.
⚠️ 🎟️ Once you are on this hike, you must buy a ticket through nps.gov to access the hike…or go to the Old Rag website…easily found with a googlee search!
