**Sorry no time to change description. Pleasant AT hiking ending at incredible overlook at cedar Cliffs.

the water could still be high so prepare for wet feet crossing the stream

This is a wonderful hike that is between easy and moderate. The hike is South of Rockfish Gap, just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This hike will not disappoint as hikers will enjoy both beautiful water and awesome views (sometimes hard to find both in a hike of this distance).

The hike will start at White Rock Gap parking area at the bottom of the hill near MP 18. We will cross the BRP and take White Rock Falls Trail heading towards the Falls. The one thing major climb is here, from the bottom to the top of the Falls. Then we will cover a gorgeous stretch of trail, including great views and pretty streams. We again cross the BRP and pick up the Slacks Trail back down to the parking lot.

Difficulty: in between easy and moderate...with total elevation gain of roughly 1,100 feet.

Where: For those wanting to carpool from Charlottesvile, please indicate in RSVP and we’ll try to hook you all up. Driving time to the trail head from Charlottesville will be approximately 50 to 60 minutes. Take the Bypass to I64 West, exiting at Rockfish Gap (exit #99) where you will head south on Blue Ridge Parkway. Travel south on the BRP to MP 18 to parking lot at the bottom of the hill.

Fees & Such: Of course for the carpool to work, some have to offer to drive so others can ride. Riders, please give your driver $2.00 to cover their expenses. We will not be in the Park so passes and entrance fees is not an issue. Supplies: Please bring plenty of water and wear hiking boots/shoes. Trekking poles and are recommended for this hike - they make the water crossing and the rocky sections much easier. We will be taking several breaks as well as enjoying lunch along the way - so bring lunch and snacks...! Also, pay attention to the mountain weather - wear & pack warm layers and a rain shell. Clothing and accessories should be wool and/or synthetic - NOT COTTON.

Weather: If inclement weather necessitates canceling or postponing the hike, the decision will be made no later than 8:30 a.m. - cancellations will be posted on the hike comment section... Steady rain with not much chance for clearing and/or dangerous winter conditions will call for postponing the hike.

RSVP: If you find that you're not going to be able to attend the hike, please update your RSVP to "No" as soon as possible. This allows those on the waitlist to have the opportunity to attend.
