Let's do this section of the Rivanna going the opposite direction from the last time we started here, only this time starting much later so we can take advantage of Glass Half Full actually being open this time. They have fried pickle spears y'all.

This section of trail is easy, but there is a minor water crossing to be aware of. It's generally not difficult to navigate, but water levels do of course fluctuate, so come prepared. I also suggest when it's muddy to bring an extra set of shoes/socks with you to change into after. We'll hike to Avon Street and then retrace our steps, for a total of about 4.5 miles.

For those who want to join, we'll go around the corner into Fifth Street Station to Glass Half Full, which we found out from last time opens at 4pm on Fridays. They have drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic, whatever your preference) and a full food menu available.
Glass Half Full (click on theater menu in the tabs to see options if you want to peruse the menu ahead of time)

Difficulty Rating: Easy, roughly 4.5 miles with no significant elevation change

What to Bring/Wear: Appropriate footwear for walking/hiking on an at-times rugged trail, water, trekking poles if you prefer them, layers and layers

Weather: If the forecast calls for severe weather I will update the group in the comments.

Dog Policy: Pups are allowed. Please keep them leashed for their safety and for the comfort of other hikers.

RSVP: If you find you’re not going to be able to attend, please update your RSVP to “Not Going” as soon as possible. RSVPs close one day prior, so please change your status early if necessary to allow those next on the waitlist adequate time to prepare.
