Hike Distance/Elev Gain/Rating - 9.3 Miles/2,221'/Mod Strenuous

Hike Details - This is a ciruit hike from the Blackrock Gap Parking Area in the Southern District of Shenandoah National Park. The first 3.5 miles is a steady descent down the Paine Run Trail. The next 3.5 miles is a stead ascent up the Trayfoot Mounting Trail to the summit of Trayfoot Mountain. The final 2.2 miles is an easy descent back to the parking area via the AT.

Conditions - This is going to be a hike with around 2,221' of elevation gain. The trail will most likely still have snow patches and will be wet in areas due to the recent snow melt. Remember that the temperatures along the ridgelines are 10 to 15 degrees colder than lower elevations. Monitor the weather and properly dress for the weather conditions. Suggest you bring layers of clothing, beanies, gloves, and proper gear for these weather conditions.
