MTB Monarch Crest Trail - 36 miles

Ride the Monarch Crest trail route (Monarch Crest, Silver Creek and Rainbow) for a total of 36 miles. Attendees can organize a self-shuttle from Poncha Springs, CO.

Since alpine weather can be unpredictable, July 12 is the first attempt for scheduling this ride, and the date may be changed if the weather forecast predicts heavy thunderstorm activity at high elevation.

Ride level: intermediate to advanced (trail ratings blue to black). Direct from MTB Project: "The Monarch Crest is a long point-to-point ride at very high altitudes of up to 12,000 feet. NOTE: There is nearly 3,000 vertical feet of climbing along the way. The elevation profile makes it look like an easy 'downhill shuttle ride,' while in fact, all that high-altitude climbing takes most of the time and energy as the ride progresses. This isn't a beginner ride; it's a very long and tough intermediate-level ride."
