(S) Congaree National Park - Boggy Gut (formerly River) trail.

This trail leads to the Congaree River, which is considered the lifeblood of the national park's great diversity. Wildlife is abundant in this area and the chances you will observe an alligator, deer or hogs are high. Approximately ten times a year (mostly in winter), floodwaters from the river cover nearly 80% of the park. When the river is low, a large sandbar may be visible.

Hiking in CNP is highly subject to river levels. The park is in a floodplain. Hike leader will move to alternative location near Greenville-Spartanburg if conditions change.

For those carpooling from Publix in TR, plan on departing at 8:15 AM. I will meet you at the trailhead.
