Options:

Minyon Loop 8 kms. Start at Minyon Grass, walk the loop to the falls and return via the road.

Minyon and Boggy Creek loop 16 kms. Start at Minyon Grass, walk the loop to the falls then walk up to Rummery park via the Boggy Creek Track for lunch with the full group then walk back to the cars via the road.

Grade3: Tracks are likely to vary from moderately uneven to rough and some sections may be off-track. Some gradients are likely to be quite steep and there may be some moderate rock hopping or easy rock scrambling. Above average fitness and some bush-walking experience required.

The travel time to Minyon Falls is less than that to O’Reilly's from the coast. But to give everyone an opportunity to visit this area, I suggest those that like to car pool arrange this early by putting up a shout-out under comments and giving the driver $10 which if 4 in a car may just cover the fuel costs but shows appreciation for the driver.

Minyon Falls is 100 metre high waterfall which drops down into the deep palm-shaded gorge below called Palm Valley. This walk is not to the actual base we will scramble over the rocks to get to the base. Then onward to the head of the falls then to Rummery Park for lunch.

You will see some of the largest beauties still left standing including Blackbutt and Scribbly Gums as well as sub-tropical Booyong rainforest and Brush box. Minyon Falls is part of a larger area known as Minyon Falls Flora Reserve which, because of its high scientific, recreational and scenic value, is excluded from all logging operations. The large display board will show you the way as you embark on your walk. There are also toilets and BBQ facilities so it is a wonderful spot for a picnic.

Meet up: 9.25 am at Minyon Grass or by your own arrangement to car pool. Distance form Burleigh M1 intersection is 88k’s allow 1¾ hrs travel time.

Suggested route: M1 onto Gulgan Rd to Mullumbimby. At Mullumbimby go to Goonengerry.

Turn right on Repentance Creek Rd, Turn right Upper Creek Rd continue to Minyon Falls Rd and onto Minyon Falls Grass Area.
