Using Dogs and Drones to Reveal Human Remains at Archeaological Sites

Hosted By

Details
Melissa Kindt and her Archaeological Human Remains Detection Dog, Hawk, have been trained to sniff out historic and pre-contact human burial sites. They participated in a project at the Rosebud Battlefield in Montana to survey the Rosebud Creek area in search of the graves of Union Soldiers who fell in the 1876 Rosebud Battle. Melissa and Hawk were able to locate the battlefield hospital site and identify sensitive areas that were likely burial sites.
