Gaslighting is a term often used to describe manipulation that causes someone to doubt their own experience or perception of reality. While the word can sound harsh, the truth is that anyone can unintentionally use gaslighting language — especially in moments of discomfort, misunderstanding, or conflict.

Unintentional gaslighting can slowly erode trust and connection, even in the most caring relationships. It often arises from good intentions — trying to comfort someone, resolve tension, or explain our own perspective — yet it can leave others feeling unseen, dismissed, or invalidated.

In this Authentic Relating practice, we’ll explore:

  • What unintentional gaslighting looks like in everyday conversation
  • Common phrases and patterns that can cause harm (even when unintended)
  • How to recognize and repair moments of disconnect in real time
  • Supportive, validating language that fosters trust and mutual understanding

Through guided exercises, partner shares, and group reflection, you’ll gain practical communication tools to express empathy, listen deeply, and honor both your own truth and another’s lived experience.

Join us for this experiential workshop as we build awareness, compassion, and skill in speaking — and listening — from authenticity and care.

All are welcome—whether you’re new to Authentic Relating or a returning practitioner.

Who would benefit from this practice: partners, family members, those who want help connecting with others (friendships), professionals who have trouble working with team members, and team leaders who are trying to make an impact.
