Bus Hike - Let's Map Mark North Carolina

OVERVIEW
This is an excellent chance to get the long trails off Newfound Gap Road or Clingmans Dome Road down to Deep Creek Campground. We'll be offering several hikes that will use a rental bus rather than setting up 1.5-2 hour shuttles. More routes will Be Updated in the coming weeks.

Unlike the past, we'll be picked up in Deep Creek and dropped at various trailheads on Newfound Gap Rd and along the Clingmans Dome (Kuwohi) road, and hike back to Deep Creek. This helps us avoid the mad scramble to make the bus at the end of a long day.

RSVP / WAIT LIST
Join the Wait List NOW if you want to reserve a seat on the Bus so we can get a headcount. First come-first served.

Hike leaders will make a separate post about their specific event shortly, with more details about the route and trail specifics, and how you can pay for your spot (cash, Venmo, PayPal, etc.).

RESERVATION COST
There is a $15 fee for the Bus shuttle. If you sign up you must pay in advance to reserve your seat on the bus, and to be removed from the Wait List.

There are no refunds if your plans change, because the bus company will already have your money.

LOCATION FOR ALL BUS HIKES
PICKUP at 8:00 at the Noland Divide TH near the entrance to Deep Creek Campground. (see map)

HIKE ROUTES USING THE BUS
These are the hikes that have been offered so far that will use the bus.

Option 1 - Anoria T -- Noland Divide from Clingmans Dome Rd down to Deep Creek CG +800 / -4900' - 11.6 miles - Moderately Difficult

Option 2 - Randy H -- Deep Creek from Newfound Gap Rd down to Deep Creek CG. +600 / -3700' - 14 miles - Moderately Difficult

Option 3 - Lane D -- Newton Bald > Sunkota Rdg > Martins Gap > Deep Creek CG from Newfound Gap Rd down to Deep Creek CG. +3600 / -4000' - 17 miles - Strenuous

PARKING TAGS
Frontcountry campers parked at their designated campsite will not be required to have a parking tag for the 2 vehicles permitted. If you are parked elsewhere in the park or campground, a parking tag is required. You can buy a day pass at the restrooms near the entrance to the campground, just before the Deep Creek Campground Kiosk.
