Join us for an In-Person gRPC Global Meetup, where software developers, mobile developers, and technology enthusiasts will come together to dive into the exciting world of distributed systems and new technologies.
Abstract:
gRPC-Rust
As the adoption of Rust continues to expand across various development domains, the gRPC team is committed to supporting its user base by providing robust tools. This meetup will offer an introduction to gRPC-Rust, which will be officially announced at gRPConf 2025. We will explore how Rust's characteristics, including its focus on performance, memory safety, and concurrency, can be utilized in conjunction with gRPC's efficient, language-agnostic RPC framework to develop microservices.
Speakers:
Doug Fawley has worked on the gRPC project as the TL for the Go implementation since 2017, and at Google since 2011. Before Google, Doug worked on the hypervisor/VMM at VMware. He began working on gRPC-Rust a year ago and divides his time between gRPC-Go and gRPC-Rust.
Cathy Zhao is a rising Junior at Brown University majoring in Applied Math and Computer Science. She is the SWE intern on the gRPC-Rust team this summer and helped to develop some load balancing policies in Rust.
gRPConf 2025:
To see the demo for gRPC-Rust and try it yourself, come to gRPConf 2025! Early bird tickets are only $50 until July 30th. You can learn more about gRPConf at https://events.linuxfoundation.org/grpconf/
