Gwinnett Wellness Community Winter Gathering
Gwinnett Holistic Psychiatry, 912 Killian Hill Rd SW Suite 202 N, Lilburn, GA, USPlease RSVP through this google form
We look forward to closing out 2025 with you by exploring the depths and fullness of our human experience together.
We will begin our gathering with a Collective Grief Ritual around a fire in the woods by the river for those who desire a place for their sorrows to be witnessed, held, and felt deeply.
Afterwards, we will have a Saturnalia-inspired holiday music jam and potluck in our home —and all revelers are welcome! Our home is filled with instruments, ready for spontaneous songs, joyful noise, and a little bit of festive mischief.
You may come for either the grief ritual or the music jam, or come for the entire evening. The choice is yours. We look forward to sharing stories, tears, laughter, music, and presence with you.
Collective Grief Ritual
At 4:30, we will gather for a procession into the woods to the Yellow River, where we will kindle a communal fire.
There, each person will be invited to name the people, relationships, world events, archetypes, and ideas they feel called to grieve — offering them to the soil, the water, and the flames for transformation and rebirth.
As an example, Sharon will guide a collective moment of grieving for the archetype of the exploited woman, honoring the countless women throughout history who have been harmed, and acknowledging how these wounds continue to ripple through society and across generations—including within each of us.
Together, we will make space for our sadness, despair, and grief, allowing this openness to deepen our awareness and inspire genuine change.
Participants are welcome to share their grief related to any sphere of life:
racism, classism, sexism, other harmful “-isms,” illusions of separation, the suffering caused by greed, fear, injustice, harassment, and hatred, etc. You may also choose to honor loved ones who have passed, or relationships that have ended or grown distant.
Whatever weighs on your heart is welcome here.
Those who wish may stay with the fire and the silence as long as they would like.
Saturnalia Themed Music Jam and Potluck
Beginning at 6pm we will gather at the house for merry-making, food, music, and celebration!
Join us for a joyful night filled with delicious food, fantastic friends, a raging fire, rauckus revelry, engaging games, and lots of music. This is a family-friendly gathering—please bring your kiddos!
Together we will bring 2025 to a close as we collectively release through music, song, fire, and festivities.
Bring your musical instruments!
If you don’t have one, don’t worry—we’ll have plenty on hand. Throughout the night we’ll sing songs together, listen to those who want to showcase their musical talents, and dive into spontaneous improvisational jams. We’ll also have a dedicated room for board games for those who prefer cards and strategy to drums and song.
We will be projecting captivating visuals such as these on our wall to stimulate our creativity.
A nod to Saturnalia
Our celebration is loosely inspired by the ancient festival of Saturnalia. If you'd like to learn more about this wonderfully upside-down holiday, check out these links:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturnalia
https://www.getty.edu/news/the-wild-holiday-that-turned-ancient-rome-upside-down/
All you truly need to know is that there will be tons of merry-making—and at any moment you may hear (or wish to shout) “Yo Saturnalia!” The Lord of Misrule, Thomas, may also issue the occasional absurd command. Feel free to play along!
Gift Swap Corner
Since this gathering comes right after the season of gift giving, we’ll have a “give a gift, take a gift” table. Bring anything you've received that you think someone else might enjoy more than you; gift bags are encouraged so the gift giving can circulate again and again until you find something that sparks joy. There will be extra gifts to ensure everyone leaves with a gift!
