From Döhle to Sahrendorf (26 km / hard)

Dear hikers, it's still heather season 🌸. And that means, in addition to the purple blossoms, that the Heide-Shuttle buses allow us to visit places that are difficult to reach by public transport during the rest of the year. Next Saturday we'll take the opportunity to go on a grand hike from one heath village to another, from Döhle to Sahrendorf. Apart from well-known spots such as Totengrund and Turmberg, the tour is characterized by great views over wide landscapes and some forest sections. Due to the time constraints imposed by the buses, the walking speed will be somewhat higher this time, about 5.5 km/h. Please bring food and drinks as needed for the day, there are no opportunities to restock on the way. Sturdy shoes and clothing are recommended, sure-footedness is required.

We meet at Hamburg Hbf on platform 13, section A, below the sign 'A', at 8:05 and take the train RE4 in the direction of Bremen at 8:15. The train usually departs from platform 13, but check the displays for any changes on Saturday. In Tostedt we change from train to bus Heide Shuttle 2 and start the hike in Döhle at 9:51. For the return trip we use Heide-Shuttle 3 from Sahrendorf, and train RB41 from Sprötze to Hamburg, where we should arrive at 17:26. The trip is covered by the Deutschland-Ticket. Without D-Ticket a 5-Ring HVV ticket is needed for HH Hbf - Tostedt and a 4 ring HVV ticket for Sprötze - HH-Hbf. The Heide-Shuttle buses are free of charge.

Please play nice and only sign up if your are 100% sure that you will join! Unreliable people (no show or late cancellation) may be excluded from future events with limited capacity. Repeat offenders will be banned from the group.

As always, this is a free event, but voluntary donations are welcome and help me cover the costs of running the group. Nobody is expected to give, only do so if you can afford it and would like to. Look out for the violet donation box toward the end of the hike.
