Take Back the Night
Join us Thursday, Sept 18, 2025 at Hamilton City Hall for a powerful night of solidarity, celebration, and action. This year marks 50 years of SACHA and our theme, “Still Here. We Persevere”, honours survivors, advocates, and community members who refuse to be silenced.
Take Back the Night is a free, all-genders, all-ages community event that denounces sexual violence, gender-based violence, and street harassment while uplifting survivors. The evening begins with community tables, an Indigenous market, live music, activities, and giveaways. We’ll hear from powerful speakers, then march through Hamilton’s streets with signs and chants. We will be taking up space, demanding safety, and showing that survivors are never alone.
🕕 6–8 pm – Community tables, Indigenous market, live music, activities, giveaways
🕗 8–8:15 pm – Speeches & chants
🚶♀️ 8:15–9:15 pm – March through the streets (shorter route available)
💬 All genders, all ages welcome. Together, we denounce violence and take up space to show survivors they are never alone.
SACHA (Sexual Assault Centre (Hamilton & Area)) is a community-based, non-profit organization that has been supporting survivors of sexual violence for 50 years. We work from an intersectional, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, feminist framework to provide free, confidential, and non-judgmental services to people of all genders.
Our work includes:
- 📞 24-Hour Support Line for anyone impacted by sexual violence
- 🤝 Counselling & Support Groups for survivors
- 🏫 Public Education & Workshops on consent, healthy relationships, and violence prevention
- ✊ Advocacy to challenge systems that perpetuate violence and oppression
