WATCH PARTY: A Woman Under the Influence (1974) John Cassavetes @ Jordan-Newby

Details
We'll be on the 2nd floor of Jordan-Newby Library in the Cloud Room, on the left as you get off the elevator/stairs. This will be the first Cassavetes film I've seen, to my knowledge, so let's see what he's about.
RUNTIME: 146 minutes
SYNOPSIS: This uncompromising portrait of domestic turmoil details the emotional breakdown of a suburban housewife and her family’s struggle to save her from herself. Gena Rowlands and Peter Falk give unforgettably harrowing performances as a married couple deeply in love but unable to express their ardor in terms the other can understand. This landmark American film is perhaps the most beloved work from the extraordinary John Cassavetes.
BLURBS:
"The most frightening scenes are extremely compelling, and this is a thoughtful film that does prompt serious discussion." - Nora Sayre, The New York Times
"This is a disturbing portrait of a slightly-mad housewife. Its serious treament of a downbeat subject is hypoed by a fine performance from Peter Falk and a bravura one from Gena Rowlands." - Variety
"John Cassavetes’ 'A Woman Under the Influence' gives us a woman whose influences only gradually reveal themselves. And as they do, they give us insights not only into one specific, brilliantly created, woman but into some of the problems of surviving in a society where very few people are fully liberated." - Roger Ebert
