Sometimes we take a flyer on a bizarre-looking movie. This one has a stacked cast including Annette Benning, Brian Cox, Joseph Fiennes, Gwyneth Paltro, Alec Baldwin, and Evan Rachel Wood, so we're just going to ignore the critics scores, m'kay? (h/t cinephile Ren)

We'll be in the 2nd floor Cloud Room, on the left as you get off the stairs/elevator.

RUNTIME: 116 minutes

RATING: R for "disturbing content, sexuality, drug use, and language"

SYNOPSIS: As the son of an alcoholic father (Alec Baldwin) and a mentally ill mother (Annette Bening), young Augusten Burroughs (Joseph Cross) faces a challenging childhood at the very least. His life takes an unexpected turn when his mother gives him to her unorthodox therapist (Brian Cox), and the boy becomes a member of the doctor's own strange, extended family.

BLURBS:
"By turns cruel, self-pitying, and mordantly witty, [Bening] makes living with a delusional psychotic seem like the adventure of a lifetime." - Dana Stevens, Slate

"It's one of the most clear-headed -- and twistedly entertaining -- views of drug dependency and insanity I've ever seen." - Bruce Westbrook, Houston Chronicle

"Ryan Murphy's jaunty screen version of Running With Scissors proves that nothing consecrates one's depiction of a narcissistic mother like having her embodied by Annette Bening." - David Edelstein, New York Magazine
