FREE INTRODUCTION TO PADDLING TODAY
If you are outrigger curious this is the day for you. Fee waived today for all people who have not paddled with us before. Wear watersport clothes - you will get at least a little wet.
This is one of our 8 free learn to paddle days for new paddlers 9 and over (must have parent or guardian in the canoe with children 9-12). Must be able to swim and follow directions. Please RSVP as we have limited spaces and be there before 11:30am.

We hope you’ll join us for a day of outrigger canoe paddling, music and fun at Hana Hou beach in Newport Harbor. Come for an outrigger paddle, picnic, sing, strum or just sit back and listen to music.

All musicians and skill levels welcome. Ukuleles, guitars, cajons, and other instruments have all shown up 😊. Sometimes there are ukulele lessons before Hana Hou starts (look for Free Ukulele Lessons on the Beach on meetup).

Donations welcome (to help pay for County lease fee and insurance)

If you wish to paddle, the fee is $20 per calendar month or $10 per session. We provide paddles, life jackets, 6 person outrigger canoes as well as paddling tips and instructions. Cash or Zelle only. Beginners and experienced paddlers welcome!

House Rules:
Paddlers must be able to swim
Paddlers must sign a consent form each year
Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can sign the release form
Must be 9 years or older to paddle unless cleared by steersman
Under 13 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the canoe
Be respectful of all the members
Please avoid discussing politics or religion

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE! PLEASE!! Always check this site on Sunday mornings prior to making the trip to the beach. Weather and other factors can sometimes force a cancellation. We will hold a Hana Hou meetup every week unless something unavoidable happens to make it impossible.
