Walk the Trails at the Rocky River Nature Park, Anderson SC
Details
Visitors say this park offers nice, clear, and easy walking trails that are great for walking, and they appreciate the dog-friendly atmosphere (dogs must be on-leash). There have been recent upgrades; one of those upgrades is supposed to be new bathrooms, although some reviews say "not even a port-a-potty". Best to take care of those needs before you arrive, just in case.
Another one of the upgrades is supposed to be a picnic area, and you see the group in the photo has coolers with them. It might be nice to bring a picnic lunch for after the walk.
Reviews mention flower beds, woods, a creek, and marsh areas, local nature and wildlife. The trails are mainly dirt. One short trail is a boardwalk over wetlands. The trail at the entrance is gravel.
The trails are mostly level with a few areas that would be difficult for those with limited mobility or people with a stroller or wheelchair. I plan to take a walking stick, just in case.
We will meet in the parking area (no parking fees, room for 15 – 20 cars). We will wander back and forth on the various trails, seeing nearly every stretch of trail, a very few going both directions. These include the Main Trail, Bluff Trail, Amphitheatre Loop, Right-of-Way Trail, Rocky River Trail, Boardwalk, Missing Creek, Cox Creek Trail, and Hidden Path. I estimate under 3 miles.
Dress for the weather. (Some reviewers say to bring a change of shoes, just in case.) Consider a hat and sunscreen. Bring plenty of water and a protein snack. Bring your camera as there should be lots of photo opportunities.
