the Curmudgeon’s Annual Spring Bloom Roadtrip
The abbreviated version.
This is the time to plan a day-trip on the BRPkwy for the Spring Blooms of Rhododendrons, Mtn Laurel and Flame Azalia.
For those who are new to the area, this one is the reason you moved here.
Difficulty: No hiking involved!. BRING drink; snacks, camera, binoculars.
Masticating will be ‘in motion’.
Drive time: 2 hrs/50 miles RT
I’m allowing 2 hours for ‘stopped time’.
Apprx return time: 2 PM
Carpool contributions appreciated. $3.00 suggested
Weather Check: Brevard, NC
Weather cancellations will be posted at 6:30am.

Dogs: since we will be in the car all day, it’s probably best to leave Fluffy at home.

We will drive up Hwy 276 to the BRPkwy
We will stop at
MP 411.8; Cold Mtn O'Look (Hwy 276 intersection)
MP 413.2; Pounding Mill O'Look; Looking Glass Rock
MP 417.0; Looking Glass O'Look;
MP 418.8; Graveyard Fields
MP 420.2; Black Balsam Rd
And return the way we came.
If we get ahead of schedule; we’ll take a side trip to the Pisgah Inn area.
