Group to Go To, BAHA's 45th Yearly Spring House Tour and Garden Reception

Details
Late breaking change. Do not meet at #10 Encino Place.
The ticket booth will be set up under the redwood tree at Donald Lawton Park at the intersection of Parkside Drive, Encina Place, and The Uplands (a half block off Claremont Avenue). Meet there at 12:30pm.
Please don't be late.
See the photo above for the meeting location in Donald Lawton Park.
The houses will be open starting at 1:00pm and don't lock up until 5pm. Personally by 3:30pm I'll be toast and ready for a nice cool drink, with dinner to follow. More about that later.
But the concern is getting our group of nine ready to go with not too much delay and all in a group.
For those who will be buying tickets and a maybe a membership that will take longer, but that's okay, if you arrive earlier.
The ticket booth will be open from 12:00 noon.
They will offer many forms of payment: from cash or check to the popular electronic methods.
About food afterwards:
Now for some fun stuff. I've haven't found a restaurant I like on College Ave. My suggestion for afterwards is the sparkingly newly remodeled Picante Mexican restaurant on 6th Street, between Gilman St. & Camalita St. in west Berkeley. It's great, with a choice of indoor or outdoor dining. Plenty of parking, they even have their own parking lot.
Be sure to ask for the free chips and salsa when you order. They have a full bar and an unusual selection of soft drinks. It you are really hungry, the Tostado will do it. My go to is the Green Salad and fried fish taco. That's plenty filling for me.
This event is not officially affiliated with the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Assoc. (BAHA), but they welcome our attending.
You must have a ticket to the BAHA Open House Tour to join the group for this meetup event.

Let's get our Meetup group together to go to the Spring 2025, Berkeley Architectural Heritage Assoc.(BAHA) open homes touring of the Claremont Park neighborhood in the College Ave. area.
You will have the opportunity to explore a fascinating selection of the early residences built in the Claremont Park subdivision, as well as the opportunity to view a few of the original gardens.
There is a very nearby coffee shop on an old-fashioned shopping line of stores. And College Ave. is around a long corner for lots of restaurants. If you've never been to this area it is wonderfully unique.
Logistics the day of the Event:
Meet at, 12:30pm in tiny Donald Lawton Park, a park in the divider.(This is the BAHA check-in location.) It is near the first house on the tour, #10 Encino Place. I'll be wearing a seersucker jacket.
Many of the greatest Bay Area architects came together to serve many and delight all. The work of those highlighted will be on view, John Hudson Thomas, Julia Morgan, Edwin Lewis Snyder, Walter W.H.Ratcliffe,Jr., James W.Plachek, Bernard Maybeck, Ernest Coxhead, Henry H. Gutterson, Donald Olsen, Willian Wurster among others designed in the First Bay Traditional/Arts & Crafts, Craftsman style, all the different period revival styles of the 20s and 30s.
Come walk along these streets with a view of what was touched by genius. As we do another BAHA open house tour.
PS
May 18th is the, "Bay to Breakers Race", in SF. For non-runners, Berkeley will be a good place to be on the 18th.
*There is also the opportunity to attend as a volunteer, by spending half your time docenting inside one of the houses, and the other half, free for touring.
From the photos provided, (see copies below), two very interesting locations are shown. One is a S.California style, river rock, facade house. There are not many of these seen in N.California. The other photo appears to be along a creek side. Some of the houses along the streams here are very unique. A good opportunity to take some photos as permitted, usually inside the house photos are not permitted.
