Whale Hike! Northern Beaches Gem: Dee Why to (New) Mona Vale Hotel for Beers!!!

Details
If there’s a coastal hike of Sydney I haven't hiked…
And a new / renovated bar I haven't had a beer at…
Then it’s time to hike that hike and drink those drinks.
Long Reef Headland to Mona Vale Hotel looks like a beauty, and it’s easy-easy for drivers and public transporters like me. Read on.
THE HIKE.
We start at Long Reef Headland… one of the most stunning sections of our Sydney Coastline, from Palm Beach all the way down to The Royal National Park. We meet there in the grass by Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club. We’ll hike Long Reef Headland with looooovely views (let’s find some whales).
We bend around Long Reef Golf Course and exit to a cute little beach walk at Fisherman’s Beach which finishes at Collaroy Rockpools… leading to Collaroy Beach. From there we’ll do some beach walking, some street walking to Narrabeen and Narrabeen Head – must be a nice lookout there with views to whales. Onward we go to Turimetta Beach (sheez I’ve never heard of it) and Lookout… to the Turimetta Headland Reserve, Warriewood Lookout & Blowhole, Warriewood Beach, then to Mona Vale Beach… finishing at the pub! Shit there’s so much here I haven’t seen!
13kms in total. Beach walk. Inclines. And all the rest. Fitness required for this one. The B1 bus stop is right there at Mona Vale, or if you parked your car at the start the 199 bus is also there. Super easy to get back south to Sydney.
THE PUB.
The Park Hotel, which I really liked… has been renovated-renamed to The Mona Vale Hotel. It looks super nice – no doubt good food, so let’s tuck in there for some fun. A reservation has been made.
THE STARTING POINT.
Coming from North of South? B1 bus gets you close, but it’s an easy transfer to the 199 bus that drops you at the Collaroy at Pittwater Rd before Hay St stop. Cross the road there (be careful), take the trail down, and the grassy bit is our meeting point (please see pics below). It’s a little tricky, but you’ll find it.
Drivers, there’s meant to be freebie parking around that area – DIY research please.
THE OTHER STUFF
a) Be on time. If you’re late? Catch up, or meet us at The Collaroy (Merivale pub). We’ll be coming that way after Long Reef Headland. Message me.
b) $10 Cash or PayID.
c) Fitness matters here. There’s a lot I haven’t done so I can’t advise, but those inclines in the Northern Beaches will make us earn our lunch / beers for sure.
d) Honour your RSVP. No shows get banned from the group. I put my credit card down for a reservation – your reservation.
e) Bring mates, dates, etc...
See you for a beautiful hike, drinks, and laughs. MJ
