5 WATERFALLS & 2 HIKES! Lawson to Emu Plains to The Log Cabin for drinks & food!

Besides meeting you ratbag-degen-loose units and talking shit and laughing away, the best thing about our hiking group… clearly is the hikes. Third would be the super cool bars we’ve found.

Last… (yet perhaps should be first) is the three variables above combining to get us going to NEW LOCATIONS in Sydney that I’ve never been to nor would go to if it wasn’t for you all. So? Thanks for that. And? Here’s another “new hike, new destination, and new bar” in The Wild, Wild West of Sydneytown. Some of you have asked for “a hike out west” so anybody living west of Pyrmont: I expect to see you on this one!!!

THE HIKE(S).
LAWSON WATERFALL CIRCUIT (Map to the left)
Sheez how am I just learning about this one? It’s a 5kms, 1.5hrs hike with 5 Waterfalls! Amazing. We start at Lawson Station and complete this loop circuit which features Adelina Falls, Junction Falls, Federal Falls, Lower Cataract Falls, and Upper Cataract Falls. The pics look amazing.

EMU PLAINS TO PENRITH (Map to the right)
We’ll take the train to Emu Plains (if driving, park somewhere around there to meet us as we move towards Penrith), depart there, and check out the Nepean River Walk… which has great reviews as well. 3kms, 4kms? Something like that ‘til we hit The Log Cabin to re-fuel.

THE FOOD & DRINK.
The Log Cabin (EST. 1826) in Penrith looks looooovely… right on the water. Huge beer garden. And it’s Legend Member Kylie’s recommendation. We’ve got a 245pm booking.

THE TIMING.
Train 1: Central 824am, arrives Lawson 1009am
(Drivers can park at North Honour Avenue Car Park)
Hike 1: 2hrs to Hike Lawson Falls Loop
Train 2: Lawson 1157am, Penrith 1252pm
Hike 2: Penrith River Hike 1pm to 245pm

It's a lot of moving parts, but the timing will work! If anything goes tits up in Lawson with the hike, “The Henry Hotel” is there for a beer / catch the next train (they run hourly). We’ll still make our 245pm lunch and drinks. Our Penrith River session would be abbreviated / perhaps a bit of a post-lunch hike too. Can play by ear.

THE OTHER STUFF
a) Be on time / Honour your RSVP. No shows get banned from the group. I put my credit card down for a reservation – your reservation.
b) $10 Cash or PayID.
c) Be reasonably fit. Both hikes are meant to be “easy” but the waterfall hike will have some incline – be sure you can smash it so we make our train time.
d) Bring mates, dates, etc...
