WHALE HIKE! Mona Vale Beach to Long Reef Headland, Lunch & Some Beers!!!

Details

Turimetta Beach. Warriewood Beach… So. Damn. Beautiful. If these are new to you as they were me a couple of weeks ago (I took the pics below), ready yourself for a beautiful experience. The whales will be running south too. And the finish at Long Reef Headland (240million years old) is nothing short of spectacular. This hike is tops!!!

MONA VALE TO LONG REEF HEADLAND (12kms)
Looks hard to get to? It’s so easy and quick to get there with the B1 Bus - I love that sexy banana-double-decker-people-mover. Let’s between 11am and noon (I'll be there early) – I know some of you loooove a sleep in. Grab an early beer or lunch. We start hiking at noon. Keen to just hike? Cool. Meet us in the covered beer garden in the back at 1155am. The Mona is a GREAT pub. The hike...

Mona Vale is a lush beach town, and we’ll hike around a beautiful golf course right on the coast, climbing to Warriewood Beach – shockingly beautiful, and the Sunrise Kiosk is one of the coolest beach cafes I’ve seen in Sydney. It’s here where we saw a whale pretty close up. We’ll hike into Turimetta Head lookout then to Turimetta Beach – another hidden gem that you can only hike to. Narrabeen Lookout offers views all the way down the coast… then we’ll descend onto Narrabeen Beach for a bit of beach walking / view, but we’ll rest the legs and head down Ocean St as well as this sand is pretty soft / tedious to hike on.

Collaroy Beach (another beaut) is home to a very cool pub, The Collaroy Hotel… it’s hard not to stop there for a beach beer. We continue on past Collaroy Rockpools which are lovely, then up and around Long Reef Headland. You won’t forget this spot – great views, as it’s the highest point on the Sydney coast. A hike with pics galore to Long Reef Beach & Surf Club is where we finish (if driving, I think you can park there, then jump on the 199 bus to The Mona to the start – please do your research).
The 199 bus is right there which is a quick transfer to the B1 (back to the city) or stay on the 199 to Manly Beach. Shall we get a beer on the way? I’m keen.

A few weeks ago, we hiked this in the opposite direction (Long Reef to Mona Vale), so I’m equally excited to see the views from the Mona to Long Reef journey! Feel free to join the Whatsapp Chat for updates, pic sharing, etc...

THE DETAILS.
a) Fitness. I’ll put this in the mid-challenging range. Not easy. Not hard. So, please be fit and able.
b) $10 for this one.
c) Be on time / honour your RSVP. No shows on days like these are… well, not on at all. It's anti-social. You’ll be nudged out of the group.
d) Have a profile pic up, eh? It shows the group you’re real – and real people show up to hike.
e) The Mona. Google Maps it. It’s at the B1 “last stop” – the pub is literally 30metres away.

See you Saturday! MJ
