New Year’s Day local hike at Latta Nature Preserve
Details
As of this moment Thursday promises to be mostly sunny with a high around 60 so let’s celebrate the New Year at Latta Nature Preserve!
We will hike the southern trails going through woods and skirting the edge of Mountain Island Lake. We’ll take time to see the lake from the Buzzard Rock and Wash Rock overlooks. According to legend, the early settlers used to wash their garments upon Wash Rock.
This is an easy hike with mostly smooth trails, although sometimes you’ll need to negotiate tree roots. No elevation change. We’ll hike about 3.5 miles.
With attending this hike you agree to hike at your own risk and Charlotte Piedmont Hiking Club and it’s leaders are not liable for any injuries or mishaps.
Dogs on 6-foot leash welcome on this hike.
Bring water and wear good walking shoes or boots.
Restrooms near the parking lot.
