No crowds. No party scenes. No swiping. Just structure, peace, and connection — rooted in safety and respect for nature.

🧭 Welcome to Training Series 1A: Land Navigation & Terrain Readiness
This is a multi-part Land Navigation training series — starting at the basics and advancing to expert-level navigation. Taught by a U.S. Army-trained Cavalry Scout (19D), this series is designed for serious trail leaders and hikers who want to master real-world movement, map work, terrain reading, and field planning.🗓️ 🕒Note on Timing:
This event appears on Thursday as part of our weekly training coordination cycle.
While Meetup requires a listed date and time, please note:
➡️ Training is arranged privately and flexibly based on your availability — not during the posted time slot.🚨 This session is self-paced.
To access materials and log your progress, please contact the Scheduling Admin directly. All participation is coordinated privately — RSVP is not used for training validation.***

- Compass use & standards — real tools vs. gimmicks
- UTM grid coordinates, map folding, and care
- Pace count, estimation, and rate of travel calculations

- Thumbing a map, reference points, and route selection
- Solo hiking vs. group dynamics: strength, gear, safety
- Group hike structuring — Scout, Navigator, Rear, Equipment roles
- Safety planning, weather awareness & daylight estimation
- Understanding the 12 Essentials (individual & group)
- Rhythmic breathing, “rest step,” lactic acid management
- Very advanced land navigation — terrain tactics, movement under duress, and multi-day route design

📍 Avalon, NJ – Weather is Beginning To Look Good For: Swimming, Surfing, Paddle Boarding, Beach Activities & More Hey crew —We’re keeping Avalon on rotation for member beach hangs. Whether it’s surfing, swimming, or just unplugging on the sand, — this one’s open to just our members. We’ll activate beach day events based on weather, availability, and member interest.
⚠️ Important Info – Please Read:- 📍This is a private club activity — not a public event.
- No RSVP required through Meetup. Coordination is done privately.

🌊 Water Notes:
- Ocean temps may still be cool — a wetsuit or rash guard is recommended for extended water time.
- Beach tags can be purchased onsite.
- Bring your gear: surfboards, paddle boards, beach games — or let us know if you need help finding rentals.

We’ll have a canopy, flags/markers for visibility.

Local (15–30 minutes) – Moorestown, Rancocas Woods, Pennsauken trails, Palmyra Cove Nature Park
Mid-range (1–2 hours) – South & Central NJ, Wharton State Forest, Wissahickon Valley (PA), Avalon/Stone Harbor beach walks, Batsto Village, Valley Forge
Extended range (2.5–4 hours) – Delaware Water Gap, Poconos, Catskills, northern PA ridgelines, major NJ/NY/PA scenic routes and state parks✨ And many more depending on season, interest, or request

⛰️ More challenging terrain with steep inclines, steps, or rock scrambles
🌊 Waterfalls, lakes, rivers, wilderness, peaks, and beach trails***

Hikes can range from quick 1-hour walks to full-day adventures
Open to weekday or weekend meetups***

Open to carpooling or meeting at the location.
Happy to recommend what to bring or how to prep for trail conditions.

Our carpooling location is directly connected to a River Line Light Rail station, making it easy for those arriving by public transportation.- River Line Light Rail: Local NJ rail line that serves many nearby trail areas
- PATCO Speedline: High-speed rail from Philadelphia to South Jersey — connects at the Broadway/Rand Transportation Center (also a River Line station)
- Amtrak: National rail service — connect with River Line at Trenton Transit Center for long-distance coordination
- NJ Transit Trip Planner: Plan your full route using rail, bus, and transfers across NJ and into PA/NY
