Aliso Peak Hike/Level 3 (Maybe a double loop)

Details

DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE ENTIRE POST. This is not an easy hike. It’s extremely rugged and very steep on several sections.

This is a great summer hike since it’s so close to the ocean and it will hopefully be a bit cooler then inland. It’s really fun as we have beautiful views, possibly ocean breezes, great trails, lots of stairs, and a little time on a wonderful beach. THIS IS NOT AN EASY HIKE. THIS hike will take us from the top of the hill (at seaview park) overlooking Laguna beach and hike down to Aliso Peak(where we will hang for about 10 minutes to enjoy the view) and then we take the Valido trail down and then head down to either 1000 Steps Beach or West street beach depending on the weather, where we will hang out for about 10-15 minutes. (There is a porta potty at the beach) After climbing up lots of stairs from the beach we head back up the Valido trail taking in lots more steps on the way up. We head up Valido on a 750 foot climb back to the top. There may be an option to do a double loop on the Toovet trail depending on the weather).Total elevation gain today is about 1000-1200 feet on some steep and rugged trails. And LOTS of stair steps. We will take our time (so very fast hikers might be disappointed and shouldn’t sign up). but we won’t be slow either so slow hikers shouldn’t sign up. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THESE LONG BREAKS TO ENJOY THE SURROUNDINGS THIS HIKE IS NOT FOR YOU. The total distance is about 4 -5 miles depending on the route with about 1000 feet of elevation gain, but don't let the distance fool you as the hike back up the very steep and sometimes rugged hills packs a powerful punch. Hiking poles will be very helpful on this trail due to rugged conditions.

NOTE: PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY AS WE LEAVE PROMPTLY AT 7:00 AM.
