Bedford Peak (Level 2+)

Details

If you're looking for a hidden gem, the Bedford Peak Trail is for you. You'll get an excellent workout climbing about 2000 feet in 3 miles, and at the top, you have gorgeous views of the Santa Anas, Angeles National Forest, Catalina, and on a clear day, the higher peaks of SoCal. Overall it's an underrated gem. (from Hiking Guy).

Starting from the trailhead, start a steady 3-mile climb at the Silverado Motorway. There are a lot of switchbacks and not much shade. When we reach the Main Divide Road at the 3-miles marker, walk along the Main Divide Road for 0.5 mile and then turn right to the Bedford Peak for 1/4 miles to the Bedford Peak sign.

After a rest for snacks and view at the peak, we will come back down the same way.

Bring plenty of water and hat. Trekking poles will be helpful.

Distance - 7 miles
Elevation Gain - 2100 ft

Drive pass the Maple Springs visitor center and cross the gate. Park in a dirt lot about 1000 ft past the gate. If the gate is closed, park in the Maple Springs visitor center. Display your adventure pass.

An adventure pass is required to be displayed in vehicles when using the forest for recreational purposes. SoCal daily pass is $5 vs. SoCal annual pass of $30. You may also use National Park passes including Senior Pass. Passes can be purchased online here: https://www.myscenicdrives.com/store/item/forest-passes/southern-california.
