Darker Side Fiction: A Virtual Horror Writing Session
Details
Ever have a story idea that’s too weird to live but too mean to die?
We’re hosting a one-hour virtual writing session for anyone who loves the darker side of fiction.
RECAP
Last time we started with a warmup, writing about anxious eldritch gods being stuttering messes when summoned, and talked more about what we want to do in the future and write about. I made the event 15 minutes longer so that everyone can share if they'd like. The prompt to write for this upcoming meeting is:
You wake up to find your home has one extra room. The door wasn't there yesterday. Inside, everything is exactly as you left it, including the coffee cup from this morning, still warm.
You don't HAVE to write/share for this prompt if you don't feel like it or get too busy, but we will open the floor at the beginning of the meeting to those who want to share. After that...
What should you expect?
Warm-up: Something short and absurd to break the ice. Something about dogs maybe? It's not mean I promise.
The Main Piece: A deeper dive into a single horror prompt. Everyone writes to the same premise for 15 minutes to see how many different ways we can make it scary.
What to bring: Just your preferred writing tool (or keyboard since you already have a computer in front of you) and a tolerance for mild absurdity.
Come write with us. The door is open.
