IN-PERSON: "The Women in Coastal Science Speaker Series is a free, award-winning program that brings together leading female scientists, conservationists, and researchers to share their expertise. Held monthly, this engaging series covers topics ranging from marine mammal rescue to habitat restoration, giving attendees an inside look at the critical efforts shaping our Gulf shores."
Speaker bio: Laura Camicioglu has worked in government for more than 25 years, gaining experience in finance, economic development, capital planning, and continuous improvement. As Director of Special Projects, Laura has played a significant role in delivering the vision of the Wharves Board and Port Director. As a seasoned project manager, she is passionate about advancing port’s growth, grant and environmental programs. Through her commitment to this role, the port has become Green Marine certified, obtained grant funding for electric vehicle charging stations, and initiated work to develop shore power at the port. In addition to seeking state and federal funding, she is also involved in the port’s legislative agenda. She has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in from St. Mary’s University. Outside the office, Laura is a nature enthusiast who enjoys spending time with family, in her garden and at the beach."
