So, our gathering continues—with another little cultural adventure.

This time, we’ll explore the Adelaide Festival Centre—a place that simply must be experienced.
But before we arrive there, we begin with a collection like no other...
David Roche collected a fascinating world of treasures throughout his lifetime—a world where art, craftsmanship and personality quietly live together.

We’ll begin with a relaxed coffee, introductions and conversation—a gentle start before stepping into the world of David Roche.

We’ll join the Fermoy House Tour and step into David Roche’s world.
As we wander through Fermoy House, we’ll appreciate the lifelong curiosity and keen eye he developed through Adelaide’s auction rooms—qualities that shaped a collection which became a remarkable portrait of its creator:
refined yet playful, meticulous yet wonderfully eccentric.

A short transition into the city, as we move from one artistic world to another.

A relaxed café lunch and a chance to share our impressions from the morning.

Now comes our main highlight.

• Modernist Icons

Modernism, the great cultural movement of the late 19th and 20th centuries, crossed the worlds of art, architecture, literature and music.
This display brings together four well-known modernist figures connected to Adelaide: Max Harris, Dame Edith Sitwell, John Morphett and Dorrit Black.
Among the highlights are the publication by Max Harris that inspired the name of the Adelaide Festival Centre’s new restaurant, Angry Penguin; jewellery and set-design sketches by Dame Edith Sitwell; costume and works by Dorrit Black; and original architectural designs for the Adelaide Festival Centre by John Morphett.

• OUR MOB

Art by South Australian Aboriginal Artists
This year marks an extraordinary milestone—the 20th anniversary of OUR MOB.
Since its inaugural program in 2006, hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists have exhibited their work and shared their stories, while building and developing their artistic careers.

We may stroll along, discovering perhaps a few other astonishments that catch our eye along the way.
No need to rush.
No need to see everything.
Just discover, discuss—and delight in the moment.

If the afternoon has left you wanting just a little more, you’re very welcome to continue with a leisurely walk along the River Torrens and enjoy Adelaide’s beautiful cultural precinct at your own pace.
