**Joseph Han** (he/they) was born in Korea and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. He is a [2022 National Book Foundation 5 under 35 Honoree](https://www.nationalbook.org/the-national-book-foundation-announces-its-2022-5-under-35-honorees/) and the author of a debut novel, ***NUCLEAR FAMILY*** (Counterpoint Press 2022), which was named a [New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/07/books/new-books-we-recommend.html), [NPR Best Book of 2022](https://apps.npr.org/best-books/#view=covers&year=2022), and one of [Time Magazine’s 100 Must-Read Books of 2022](https://time.com/collection/must-read-books-2022/6228601/nuclear-family/). His book won the 2023 Asian/Pacific American Literature Award Adult Fiction Honor and the 2024 Association for Asian American Studies Book Award. It was also long-listed for the 2023 PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel and short-listed for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. In 2023, he received the Elliot Cades Award for Literature for Emerging Artist from the Hawaiʻi Literary Arts Council. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Creative Writing in the [English Department at the University of Hawaiʻi-Mānoa](https://english.hawaii.edu/) and is working on his second novel.
**Rain Wright** received her Ph.D in English with a focus on creative writing from the University of Hawaiʻi, Manoa where she now teaches. Rainʻs creative work has appeared in *Hawaiʻi Review, Mud Season Review, Connotations Press: An Online Artifact* and *Madras Magazine* to name a few. She is the author of the memoir *The Language of Mothers* 2025 from Running Wild Press, Prose Editor for Antipodes Journal as well Board Member and editor for Hoʻolana Publishing Journal 01. Rain finds writing begins with water, mountains, gardening, the smell of rain and her many animals. Her daughters are her greatest loves and teachers.

**Sujatha Raman**, (she/they)ʻs short stories have been published in Singapore where she grew up, in Brooklyn NY where she lived for fifteen years and recently by Bamboo Ridge Press, in Honolulu where she now resides. She is working on a collection of short stories that tell about the human need for connection, to find their place in the sun and about the struggles of immigrants as they navigate the culture of their new homes in the US and elsewhere. Together with the remarkable Kristiana Kahakauwila, she is the co-host of Mixing Innovative Arts,Honolulu. She runs a weekly writing group.

**Brittany Winland** teaches first-year composition and creative writing classes at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is particularly interested in environmental rhetorics and writing that traces entanglements and collaborations across the more-than-human world. Originally from West Virginia, she is most at home surrounded by trees and mountains.
