Let’s make the most out of the recent rainfall by enjoying an extraordinary hike to a waterfall in Malibu.

4 miles (approx 2hrs) out and back mostly flat trail through oak woodland, riparian woodland, and Coastal sage scrub to the HIGHEST Waterfall in the Santa Monica Mountains: the multi-tiered, 150-foot Escondido Falls.

We’ll meet at the MRCA Parking Lot at Winding Way and PCH ($12.00)
26GC+C2, Malibu, CA

I’ll be wearing a bright orange windbreaker. We will start heading up the hill promptly at 8:10am.

After about half-a-mile along a paved road through a residential area, we’ll reach the trailhead sign and head down into the canyon. Trail includes multiple crossings of Escondido Creek, which will probably be high and flowing quite rapidly.

You must feel comfortable crossing a creek by stepping on rocks, and possibly getting your feet wet. Hiking boots with lug soles Highly recommended!

I know an 8am call time is early AF for some of you, but you can nap later before the Saturday Sing-along at Heretic House!

*Hiking across varied terrain, especially over creeks, is risky physically. By willingly participating you assume full liability for any possible injuries during the hike, just as you would if hiking independently.
